About CasinoBonus Hunter
We compare online casino bonuses for Australian players by reading the bonus terms instead of the banner. Every figure on this site was taken from an operator's own T&C, then checked by opening an account and depositing the minimum. When the banner and the terms disagree, we publish the terms and say so. This page explains who does that, how, and how the site is paid for.
What this site is
A comparison of casino bonuses available to people in Australia, organised by the question the reader actually has: what can I get for A$10, for A$20, for nothing, for signing up, for a first deposit. One page per question, the same twelve casinos on each, ranked differently because the question is different.
It is not a casino directory, a news site or a review site in the usual sense. We do not rate lobbies, game counts or app design. We rate bonus terms, because that is where the money is decided and because almost nobody else reads them.
Every operator on this site is licensed offshore. That is the only way an online casino can serve Australians, and we say so on each page rather than pretending otherwise. Australian law targets operators, not players; there is no offence in an Australian resident playing at or claiming a bonus from an offshore site. Whether that is a good idea is a separate question, and the responsible gambling section below is not decoration.
Who writes it
A small editorial team with a background in affiliate publishing and, before that, in the operators' own promotions departments. That second part matters: the people reading these terms have written terms like them, and know where the clauses that cost players money tend to be hidden.
Nobody on the team holds a stake in any casino listed here, and nobody is paid per casino or per ranking position. Pay is a salary. The site's revenue is described in its own section below, because it is the thing readers of a site like this should be most sceptical about.
We publish under the site name rather than individual bylines. The method is the credential: every claim on every row points at a specific line in a specific operator's terms, with the date we read it. If a claim cannot be traced that way, it does not go on the page.
How a casino gets onto a page, and how it is ranked
The same six steps for every operator, every month. A casino that fails one is listed with the failure noted, or not listed at all.
- Register a fresh accountAustralian address, AUD where offered, new email. We want the experience a new Australian player gets, including the parts the operator would rather we did not see.
- Read the bonus terms, not the promo pageThe promo page is marketing. The bonus terms and the general terms are the contract. Every figure we publish comes from the contract. Where the two disagree, we publish the contract and flag the disagreement on the row.
- Deposit the minimum and check the bonus cardThe cashier minimum and the bonus minimum are often different numbers. We deposit the figure in the terms and confirm the bonus actually attaches. If it does not, the row says what it really takes.
- Score on what you keepFour questions in order: is any of it real money; what is the smallest deposit that triggers it; what is the wagering and what does it apply to; is there a cap on what it can pay. The headline number is considered last, and only to split offers that tie on the first four.
- Re-check every term, early each monthBonus terms change without notice. Every row carries the date it was last read. A change in the terms changes the row, and if the change is large enough it changes the ranking.
- Correct in the row, not in a footnoteWhen a reader or an operator shows us an error, we fix the figure where it appears and note the date. We do not quietly edit, and we do not leave a wrong number standing with a disclaimer underneath it.
Two operators on the current list have a documented gap between their promo banner and their terms this month. Both are noted on their rows on the main ranking.
How the site is paid for
CasinoBonus Hunter is an affiliate site. When you open an account through a link on this site and deposit, the operator pays us a commission. Some pay a flat fee per depositing player, some pay a share of what that player loses over time, some pay a mix. This costs you nothing and does not change the bonus you receive.
It does mean every "Claim bonus" button on this site is a commercial link. We mark them as sponsored in the page code and we are saying it plainly here. Readers should know that a site like this one has an incentive to send them to casinos, and should read it accordingly.
Not every casino on the site pays us. Some are listed because they belong in the comparison and have no affiliate program we are part of. They get the same row, the same scoring and the same button, which in their case leads to the casino with no tracking attached.
What commission does not buy
Position. Rankings are set from the bonus terms before any commercial conversation with an operator, and they are not revisited because of one. Two of the top three casinos on the main ranking pay this site less than casinos further down the list. That is not a coincidence we are proud of; it is simply what happens when the ranking is built first.
Copy. Operators do not see rows before publication and do not get to approve wording. If a term is bad, the row says it is bad. If a banner overstates the offer, the row says so and lists the real figure.
Silence. When an operator changes terms for the worse, the row changes. When one stops paying commission, the row stays. When one asks to be removed, we remove the affiliate link, not the comparison.
Operators who think a row is wrong can show us the term and we will check it the same day. Operators who think a row is unfair can tell us why; the answer will be the same reading of the same terms, in public.
Responsible gambling
Every bonus on this site is designed by a casino to make you deposit and play more than you otherwise would. That is what a bonus is for. We describe them accurately so that the decision is yours and informed; we do not pretend they are free money, and the pages say so where it matters.
If gambling is costing you more than you can afford, or more time than you meant to give it, the services below are free, confidential and Australian.
- Gambling Help Online. 24/7 counselling by phone and chat, free. gamblinghelponline.org.au or 1800 858 858.
- BetStop. The national self-exclusion register for licensed Australian wagering. It does not cover offshore casinos, which is one more reason to use the casino's own limit and exclusion tools. betstop.gov.au.
- Deposit limits at the casino. All twelve casinos on this site offer daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits from the account page. Set one before the first deposit, not after a bad week.
- 18+ only. Every casino listed requires players to be 18 or over and verifies it before any withdrawal. We do not knowingly publish for anyone younger, and nothing on this site is directed at them.
